Beijing, China – In extreme heat and moist conditions in Beijing the first Olympic testrace for mountainbikers was held. A fine selection of the top 10 nations in mountainbike were selected to participate in this race. Dolphin was represented by 4 (!) riders in total with Bart Brentjens and Rudi van Houts competing for the Netherlands, Chris Jongewaard and Sid Taberlay for team Australia. Swiss rider Christoph Sauser won the race in front of Brentjens (Dolphin)and Spanish rider Coloma. The race was remarkable with the huge amount of
drop outs for riders as the conditions were very hard to race; smog, moist and extreme heat made it not easy at all. Finishing second was a great relief to Brentjens who didn’t have a great season so far in ’07. “This course really suits me, I’m looking forward to train hard this winter and prepare for my last Olympics”. “The course has small steep climbs and not to technical descents, also a good course for ‘power’ riders like me”.
