4 november 2008 - Rudi van Houts is verkozen tot mountainbiker van het jaar. In Utrecht kreeg hij de zogenaamde Mountainbike Award uitgereikt. De verkiezing is een initiatief van de Club van 5, een reflectiegroep die zich sterk maakt voor de mountainbikesport in Nederland, in samenwerking met Wieler Magazine. Van Houts was deelnemer aan de Olympische Spelen en finishte als 12e bij het WK in Italië. Bij de vrouwen ging de MTB Award naar Elsbeth Vink. Zij werd in haar afscheidsjaar Nederlands kampioen, 6e bij het EK en 14e bij de Olympische Spelen in Beijing. Frank Beemer werd verkozen tot mountainbike talent van 2008. Hij werd onder andere 8e op het WK in Italië. Voor het eerst werden er ook prijzen uitgereikt in de category gravity sports, de zogenaamde snelheids- en behendigheidsnummers in het mountainbiken. World Cup-winnares Anneke Beerten won de Award bij de vrouwen. Beerten schreef drie manches in de World Cup, alsmede het eindklassement op haar naam. Rick Koekoek greep de prijs bij de mannen. Oostende, Belgium - Bart Brentjens (Dolphin-Trek) has won the Belgium beachrace in Oostende. Dolphin-Trek's 40 year old mountainbike veteran came in 2nd in his "own" Bart Brentjens Challenge last week, and today proved he can still beat the younger riders. In the gruweling beach race Brentjensbested Belgians Belgen Kevin van Hoovels and Geert Vermoote. Roel Paulissen came in at position 10.

Frejus (FR), 10th of October 2008 - Alban Lakata has once again rode an excellent race in a world class field, taking 2nd place behind reigning World Champion Roel Paulissen. Lakata took off a bit too quick, but made an excellent recovery during the race. The Austrian rider was had an excellent season, after he recovered from the harsh Cape Epic.

Eijsden (NL), 12th of October 2008 - Bart Brentjens rode an excellent race, despite still being troubled by his hand injury from which he is still recovering. Brentjens was not capble to close the gap to  leader Ramses Bekkenk, who won the race with a four minute gap. However, Brentjens rode strong, as he flatted in the race's first desecnt and had a 7 minute gap to close at start. Brentjens also managed to overtake a strong Jelmer Pietersma in the last section of the race. Brentjens will now focus on his new role as team manager, as well as continue racing in marathons.

Ornans, France - Alban Lakata of the Dolphin-Trek has finished the last worldcup marathon of 2008 as fourth. A great result for the Austrian marathon champion which also resulted in the second place overall at the worldcup marathon of 2008. The race in the French Ornans was won by Colombian rider Paez (Gewiss-Bianchi) in front of Swiss rider Bugli and German Karl Platt.

The women's race was won by Swiss champ Petra Henzi.

Stattegg, Austria - Alban Lakata of the Dolphin-Trek team is the new 2008 Austrian marathon champion. During the Stattegg bike festival in which also the european masters championships were held the Dolphin-Trek rider was suberb. Hannes Metzler came in second.
