Adelaide, Australia - Bad news for Australian champion Chris Jongewaard of the Dolphin-Trek team as an MRI scan at the Adelaide hospital has shown a fracture in his arm. Jongewaard had a crash before the worldcup of Canberra last week and was suffering from a lot of pain. Despite his injury he was still able to finish top 10 overall. Quite remarkable when taking into account he achieved that result with a broken arm.
With disbelief the Dolphin-Trek rider received the news yesterday. Jongewaard's recovery will take several weeks and therefore will cross his Euopean plans for the rest of the season. Chris Jongewaard was supposed to ride in the worldcup event of Schladming but will now have to cancel his ticket to Europe. As it looks now the Australian champion will remain in Adelaide to get the best recovery.
